WHAT IS ONE GOOD THING?

12 August – 8 September 2026 · Across the Central Coast

Four weeks. Four good things. We do the final one together.

From 12 August to 8 September 2026, Iris Foundation is inviting the Central Coast to take part in One Good Thing, a community-wide invitation to put good into action: a thoughtful message, a genuine thank you, an invitation, a bit of practical help, a few minutes spent listening.

Small enough to do, big enough to matter.

These actions can feel ordinary to give, but they can be deeply felt by the person who receives them.

One Good Thing is an Iris Foundation grassroots prevention initiative built on realness, inclusion and connection, a practical way to help people feel noticed and valued long before they reach crisis point.

One small, intentional act of good, once a week, for four weeks. No daily challenges. No long lists. No grand gestures.

What happens when an entire community chooses to put a little more good into everyday life? We’re about to find out.

HOW IT WORKS

Commit to doing one intentional good act each week from 12 August to 8 September. We’ll send you one weekly theme and some simple ideas to help you get started.

Follow the weekly theme or choose an action of your own.

Your One Good Thing can be planned or spontaneous, public or private. It doesn’t need to cost anything, take a lot of time.

For the first three weeks, you choose when and how you complete your One Good Thing.

In the fourth week, we invite the whole Central Coast to do its final One Good Thing together.

That shared moment is The Big Good. Ask how big your good can get.

One good thing each week. That’s the whole commitment.

FOUR WEEKS, FOUR THEMES

Who deserves to feel noticed?

Thank someone working quietly behind the scenes. Acknowledge an effort that may have gone unseen. Check in with someone you have been thinking about.

Who could you bring in?

Save a seat. Make an introduction. Extend an invitation. Share an opportunity with someone who may otherwise miss it.

What good words could be said?

Name a strength you see in someone. Send a message of appreciation. Tell someone that something they did made a difference.

What good could we put into motion together?

Your fourth and final One Good Thing will become part of a shared community moment, 'The Big Good'.

THE BIG GOOD

Small is welcome. Extraordinary is possible.

Ask how big your good can get.

Thousands happening across our community.

One remarkable shared moment.

WHY IT MATTERS...

Prevention can begin with something small. We often think of prevention as something that starts when a person reaches crisis.

At Iris Foundation, we believe prevention begins much earlier. It can begin in the ordinary moments that help people feel noticed, included, encouraged and connected.

One small act cannot solve everything, and it doesn’t need to. Its value may simply be in changing the feeling of a moment, making something easier or reminding another person that they matter.

When these moments are repeated across homes, schools, businesses and neighbourhoods, they help shape the kind of community we all want to live in.
